the mission, san francisco, 2009. in the middle of what was an economic meltdown at the time curtis kimball never would have guessed that one night wheeling around a hand-made pushcart equipped with creme brulee and a torch would lead to what we now know as the creme brulee cart. Curtis thought a dessert cart in back alleys in the Mission would help foster a sense of community he was struggling to see at the time. serving food to strangers outside seemed like a sure fire way to breed togetherness- and it makes sense as his grandmother grew up running a restaurant in the midwest and his grandfather was a baker in the navy. about a year later came a permitted cart in the financial district, soon after a truck in the Castro and then a window in SOMA and now after serving hundreds of thousands of creme brulee we're proud to have our first brick and mortar store in the mission, back to where the cart was born. whether you were there in the early day or it's your first time visiting us, we're so excited to share with you the world's greatest creme brulee.
